This week Year 6 explored Darwin's theory of 'survival of the fittest' and carried out an investigation looking at how bird beaks have evolved to suit their environment/food source.

19 pupils represented our school at a Sportshall Athletics competition this week - we came second within our heats losing by only 12 points!

We had an amazing time on our trip this week to the Recycling 4 Greater Manchester site today! We learnt so much about the recycling process and how important it is to recycle properly at home.

Year 6 have been making night lights this week combining their Science and Design Technology topics together. They have had to create a working circuit with a switch and attach it inside their own night light which they individually designed. They used glue guns, craft knives and much more to create their wonderful lights.

In Science, Year 6 are learning all about electricity and circuits this half term. They started the topic by exploring the components that make a basic circuit and using sweets to represent those components.

Year 6 had the fire service in to talk to the children about how they can stay safe and help prevent fires.

To round off our topic on the Ancient Greeks, we held a full day of exciting activities. We looked at how Sparta and Athens compared and had to make up our minds if we would rather live in Sparta or Athens. We also performed our own Greek play!

Year 6 enjoyed their Christmas party day on Tuesday. Throughout the day we played Christmas themed Kahoot quizzes, made Christmas cards, decorated our tables, played party games and listened to some Christmas tunes! We are all partied out and ready for the holiday break!

Year 6 had fun recalling prior learning this week by exploring metric measurement equipment. We had fun discussing if 1 tonne of feathers weighed less than 1 tonne of bricks! It was fun to see the 'lightbulb' moments happen!
